ae'r Blaidd Country House is a Victorian Mansion with a wealth of character, set in 4 acres of woodland and gardens with panoramic views over the Vale of Ffestiniog and the Moelwyn Mountain range. It is ideally situated for easy access to mountains, sea, castles, mines and narrow gauge railways. We can cater for individuals, families or groups at any time of year.

WHAT IS THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE?

B

edrooms are large and comfortably furnished with en suite bathrooms. Each bedroom has satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities, with views over woodland or mountains. The house is fully centrally heated but the spacious residents lounge also has a real log fire. Cae'r Blaidd retains much of its beautiful décor dating back to 1879, including the dog-legged staircase and wood-panelled ceilings in the hall and dining room. The house is also WiFi enabled.

I

f mountain walking, rambling or exploring with the family is your interest, then we can help with suggested walks or supply guides and maps. We can provide you with a packed lunch and flask for the day. We also have a large drying room facility on your return in the unlikely event of inclement weather. Secure indoor storage is available if you wish to bring your mountain bike. If you prefer the idea of a completely relaxing break, then we can offer you beautiful scenery and unrivalled views in a secluded environment surrounded by an abundance of wildlife.

reshly prepared, home cooked evening meals can be served in the magnificent dining room by candlelight. We have an extensive wine list and offer a wide range of cocktails, single malt whiskies and Welsh speciality spirits, cider and beers.

If arriving by train we can provide a courtesy minibus service from the BR stations at Blaenau Ffestiniog or Penrhyndeudraeth.

For long-distance walkers we can provide a luggage transfer service to your next location.

                                                 Cae'r Blaidd is situated 500m off the A470 leading north out of Llan Ffestiniog.

There is a brown and white tourist sign on the main road saying “Cae’r Blaidd” and pointing down our lane.

f however, you would like the opportunity to sample some more adventurous outdoor pursuits, then this is where Cae'r Blaidd really comes into its own. We are a Wales Tourist Board Accredited Activity Provider with Nationally qualified Instructors with a wealth of experience. The inspection scheme has approved the management of Cae'r Blaidd, the buildings and accommodation, the running of activities and the equipment we provide. All of this is your guarantee of quality.

We can also supply information on Golfing, Fishing, Quad Biking, White Water Rafting, Mountain Biking & Pony Trekking.

We aim to blend the maximum possible enjoyment of the surroundings with the opportunity to develop new skills. Courses can be designed for all levels of ability and experience.

All technical equipment for our activities can be supplied (including waterproofs, boots, hat, gloves and fleece jacket)

All course participants will be insured against personal accident with ACE Insurance Ltd.

Courses are run using our own courtesy minibus.

ACCESS  STATEMENT

 

·       Cae’r Blaidd is set in a rural location, 500 metres from the main road and approached by a single track tarmac lane.

·       The nearest railway station is at Blaenau Ffestiniog where the level platform leads into the car park

 

·       A courtesy minibus can be provided (2 steps)

 

·       Our car park is immediately in front of the entrance to the house. It is of hard standing with a gravel surface

 

·       Porterage service is available

 

·       Level threshold through front door (width 900 mm)

 

·       Reception rooms are all on the ground floor – no steps

 

·       There are NO ground floor bedrooms

 

·       First floor is accessed by a flight of 16 stairs

 

·       All bathrooms are furnished with step-in showers

 

·       Good colour contrast between floors, walls and doorways

 

·       We regret that we do not allow pets

 

·       Payphone available in the hall. Mobile phone reception is variable depending upon the provider

 

·       Accessible information: correspondence and menus can be provided in large print upon request

 

·       Staff are trained in disability awareness under the “Welcome Host – Service for All” Scheme
